Finally a bright spot for the democrats!!

Howard Dean is running for Chairman of the Democratic Party! Right the fuck on.

...He said that the Democrats must become the party of reform.

"The Democratic Party will not win elections or build a lasting majority solely by changing its rhetoric, nor will we win by adopting the other side's positions," he said. "We must say what we mean -- and mean real change when we say it."
Dean's bid was expected, as he has been campaigning for the post for the past two months....

I came to the realization this morning that George W. Bush might have invaded Iraq soley to be a "War President". That it never had anything to do with terrorism or WMD's. And that it was all at the direction of Karl Rove to have something to run on.

Think about it: Bush's whole re-election campaign was about being a war president. He didn't have anything to hang his hat on before invading Iraq. Could Karl Rove be evil enough to invade Iraq soley to have a re-election issue to run on? It frightens me to even suggest it.

Since 11-02 I have been argueing with anyone who will listen about what went wrong in November and what the Democratic Party should do as a response. I am tired of people claiming that America is becoming more conservative, and that the Demcratic party needs to move to the right in response. I am sick of all this crap about God, Guns and Gays. Maybe that had a little to do with it, but it really isn't the main reason. Basically, Americans are not intellectually curious. Karl Rove figured this out. Then he spoon feed us what we wanted to hear in plain, American, yanky, talk.

Kerry lost because he was trying to fight the dirty tricks of Karl Rove by being honest, and over explaining the issues. It turns out Americans don't want to know what the issues are, they just want to know who we should hate. Like the Gays or the French. Don't make me read, that gives me a headache...I don't want to think. Just tell me who the good guyis so I can hate the other guy.

Basically, you sound a terror alert every week, get a group called s'wift boats for the truth' blasting Kerry's war record and tell your man to start name calling Kerry. How many times did we hear : 'Massachusetts Liberal' and a' flip flopper' in 2004? Then make some fake papers he gave to Dan Rather .. And let's not forget getting Gay marrage as a national topic. Hell, by the time Rove started rolling- we forgot that Bush had lied about the WMD's.

How I love these consiperacy theories... Could you imagine if there was a shred of truth in this article?

1-Lying to congress about WMD's
2-Ordering torture of terrorists
3-All of the slimy stuff Karl Rove did to get him elected, (like this last story f/e, or what happened in Florida in 2000).

How many Millions did Ken Starr use to impeach Clinton because he lied about who he slept with? Am I the only one who thinks that lying about who you sleep with is not as bad as lying to start a war?

This fine, fine man said that the rules of the Geneva convention are quaint, and essentially gave an open door to the interogators of 'suspected' terrorists to be tortured. Instead of being tried as a War criminal, Bush has elected him to his cabinet for such a good job doing his dirty work.

Today the Dems have an opportunaty of questioning his work under Bush.

Maybe they could ask him about his work in texas:

I have read this a few times and it does look like the republicans have actually done the right thing. Tom Delay himself asked the GOP to reverse their decision.

Majority Leader Tom DeLay asked House Republicans Monday to reverse a December rule change that allows indicted leaders to continue to hold leadership posts in the chamber.

The rank-and-file members agreed to do so without dissent, two House Republican leadership aides who attended the meeting told CNN.

The so-called DeLay Rule had been heavily criticized. At Monday night's meeting, lawmakers praised DeLay for seeking the reversal.

Now is it too much to ask for them to not fuck with our social security?

Mark my words, I will be the first to say it: JEB BUSH is running for president in 2008

Maybe this is just a test run to see how the public respond to him doing something "international", but it sure seems to have Karl Rove's finger prints on it.

So I was thinking that if Hillary ran in 2008, she could pick Bill Clinton to be the Vice President. CLINTON/CLINTON in 2008.?? Personally I think Edwards has the best shot. He looks like an average guy. My latest theory is that the Average Joe Republican bases his vote on a gut feeling about a candidate. If he looks like a nice fellow, he has a good chance of getting elected. As long as he doesn't say anything like Gays should be married, or we are going to ban assualt rifles..he has a real shot at it.

I'm Back

After spending 10 days in jolly England I have a new hope for our Country. Everyone I met was happy to met "an American" and did not hold me personally responsible for our president and all of the mistakes he has made internationally. The curious thing is, they are equally embarrassed of Tony Blair, who has a strong possiblity of being re-elected. Most everyone thinks that Tony Blair should have lost his job after lying about the WMD's, but they do not see a strong canidate to replace him.

This is the best story I have read in a long time. What it means is Bush is finally starting to admit that when something really important comes up he is now willing to ask someone that is capable of handling it to take control. (Mainly anybody but him).

What I think is interesting is todays instant poll on CNN.COM: Bush is being voted down for man of the year by 64 to 36. Seems like the election to me.

Which reminds me. We still haven't had an elevated "Terror Alert" since before the election. I guess he isn't concerned about his image anymore.

LEARNED HELPLESSNESS

There is a pyschological term for people who have been abused, and feel that no matter what they do, they cannot change the sitution they are in. The term is "Learned Helplessness" and I personally believe most Democrates feel at least a little bit of apathy for the current state of the union. At least a little bit of learned helplessness. (How many people do you know that don't watch the news any more?)

I just read an email my sister sent me, and I personally believe it is a bit of a stretch... Basically it is making the connection that the way George has treated us is similar to being in an Abusive relationship. A stretch, but worthy of a read:

Listen as Donna and Nancy Pelosi and Senator Charles Schumer take to the airwaves saying that they have to go back to the drawing board and learn from their mistakes and try to be better, more likable, more appealing, have a stronger message, speak to morality. Watch them awkwardly quote the bible, trying to speak the new language of America. Surf the blogs, and read the comments of dismayed, discombobulated, confused individuals trying to figure out what they did wrong. Hear the cacophony of voices, crying out, "Why did they beat me?" And then ask anyone who has ever worked in a domestic violence shelter if they have heard this before. They will tell you, every single day. The answer is quite simple. They beat us because they are abusers.

We can call it hate. We can call it fear. We can say it is unfair. But we are looped into the cycle of violence, and we need to start calling the dominating side what they are: abusive. And we need to recognize that we are the victims of verbal, mental, and even, in the case of Iraq, physical violence. As victims we can't stop asking ourselves what we did wrong. We can't seem to grasp that they will keep hitting us and beating us as long as we keep sticking around and asking ourselves what we are doing to deserve the beating. Listen to George Bush say that the will of God excuses his behavior. Listen, as he refuses to take responsibility, or express remorse, or even once, admit a mistake. Watch him strut, and tell us that he will only work with those who agree with him, and that each of us is only allowed one question (soon, it will be none at all; abusers hit hard when questioned; the press corps can tell you that). See him surround himself with only those who pledge oaths of allegiance. Hear him tell us that if we will only listen and do as he says and agree with his every utterance, all will go well for us (it won't; we will never be worthy). And watch the Democratic Party leadership walk on eggshells, try to meet him, please him, wash the windows better, get out that spot, distance themselves from gays and civil rights. See them cry for the attention and affection and approval of the President and his followers. Watch us squirm. Watch us descend into a world of crazy-making, where logic does not work and the other side tells us we are nuts when we rely on facts. A world where, worst of all, we begin to believe we are crazy. How to break free? Again, the answer is quite simple. First, you must admit you are a victim. Then, you must declare the state of affairs unacceptable. Next, you must promise to protect yourself and everyone around you that is being victimized. You don't do this by responding to their demands, or becoming more like them, or engaging in logical conversation, or trying to persuade them that you are right. You also don't do this by going catatonic and resigned, by closing up your ears and eyes and covering your head and submitting to the blows, figuring its over faster and hurts less is you don't resist and fight back. We have a mandate to be as radical and liberal and steadfast as we need to be. The progressive beliefs and social justice we stand for, our core, must not be altered. We are 56 million strong. We are building from the bottom up. We are meeting, on the net, in church basements, at work, in small groups, and right now, we are crying, because we are trying to break free and we don't know how. Any battered woman in America, any oppressed person around the globe who has defied her oppressor will tell you this: There is nothing wrong with you. You are in good company. You are safe. You are not alone. You are strong. You must change only one thing: stop responding to the abuser. Don't let him dictate the terms or frame the debate (he'll win, not because he's right, but because force works). Sure, we can build a better grassroots campaign, cultivate and raise up better leaders, reform the election system to make it fail proof, stick to our message, learn from the strategy of the other side. We have the mandate of the world to back us, and the legacy of oppressed people throughout history. Even if you do everything right, they'll hit you anyway. Look at the poor souls who voted for this nonsense. They are working for six dollars an hour if they are working at all, their children are dying overseas and suffering from lack of health care and a depleted environment and a shoddy education. And they don't even know they are being hit.

Arguing that we need to move to the center openly implies that Bush and Republicans win elections because they are right on issues and we are wrong. This is dangerous and self-defeating. Instead, we need to do a much better job of articulating our own ideas, especially to ourselves.

In fact, I think we need to go further to the left. We need someone fired up like Dean willing to attack the Republicans on EVERYTHING. The war, Social Security, Health Care reform, Schools....The DEAN SCREAM could be a great slogan for the DNC in 4 years.

HOW TO BE A REPUBLICAN

I spoke with my older brother this weekend who vented for 1/2 hour on how the democrats are "out of touch with mainstream america". His big points were:

1) Republicans vote with their gut.
2) Democrats vote with thier head.

To summarize his commentary he thinks we are a "tribal" nation that voted for the guy that felt most comfortable with. People voted for George because he seems like a common guy, not too smart- but has strong convictions. (And this is a common approach for most Republican's). People voted for Kerry because they believe he is smarter than they are, and this is a quality we look for in a leader. (And this is a common approach for most Democrat's).

It's an interesting theory, that I only slightly agree with. I believe that Karl Rove understands this, and that most people who are scared vote for the incubant. Hence all of the heightened terror alerts before the election. You notice we haven't had one in a month? Just a little suspicious isn't it?

CANADAINS HATE BUSH

Two things that are noteworthy today:

1) Bush is going to Canada, and the Canadains are organizing MANY protests against (who they consider) this WAR CRIMINAL.

I find this amusing. There is a group called LAW that wants to have Bush put on trial for war crimes:

One group, Lawyers Against the War (LAW), wants Bush arrested and charged with war crimes.

"LAW believes that George Bush must be brought to justice rather than be treated as a guest in Canada," said Amy Bartholomew, whose Canadian-based group claims about 150 members in 14 countries.

I think they should grab Alberto Gonzales while they are at it.

Last Christmas I speculated to my friend John Moltz that Bush would have another "surprise visit" to the troops to avoid spending a holiday with his old man who might actually ask him questions his cabinet is afraid to.

(Of course he would have fake turkey and a spiffy Army jacket)

This year it appears Karl Rove didn't tell Georgie to go to visit the troops.

I could just image the quiet moments between Bush Senior and Bush Jr:

"The New York Times is wrong," Mr. Rumsfeld said. And any member of Congress who is "saying that I had blatant opposition to the bill is incorrect because the bill didn't exist in the form that it currently is, and the president didn't have a position on the bill at the times that I was briefing him."

I find it EXTREMELY interesting that Bush cannot keep his intellegence officers in charge of fighting terrorism working for him. It's almost as if they come to realize they are bashing their heads against a wall because Bush has no interest in stopping Al Queda or protecting our country. Whatever the reason, here goes another one:

My opinion is that to win the war on Terror, we need a Counter Terrorist Intellegence Czar that can effectively do his job. Like being able to tell the president we are LOSING the war on Terror by invading Iraq.

Bush has created a culture in his White House that doesn't encourage opposing views (from the last one to quit):"Part of that stemmed from his frustration with the culture of the White House. He was loath to discuss it. His wife, Bonnie, a school administrator, was not: "It's a very closed, small, controlled group. This is an administration that determines what it thinks and then sets about to prove it. There's almost a religious kind of certainty. There's no curiosity about opposing points of view. It's very scary. There's kind of a ghost agenda." In the end, Beers was arriving at work each day with knots in his stomach.

Bush keeps on telling us he is strong on "Terra", so he must be. Right? These intellengence officers are just babies. They are quitters. Like Ashcroft.

I’m tired of hearing people say that that 11-02 (The new 9-11) shows clearly that our nation is leaning further to the right. This is horseshit. I don't want to read anymore stories about this crap.

Karl Rove did a better job of marketing George Bush as a common man who does not waver in his beliefs. Kerry’s camp was too busy battling the damage of the swift boat ads to get a real image of Kerry out to the masses. They tried to capture the middle voters by talking logically about the issues, (the economy, the war, healthcare, etc) they did not try to “market” Kerry as a common man until the very end- and many thought it was a vain attempt to capture voters. (Too little too late).

This election had very little to do with morality, or gay rights. Yes there were some wing-nuts who believe that Bush has more morality than Kerry. And yes some people voted because of this false belief. But when you look at the polls, what swung this election was older Americans and Soccer Mom’s who were concerned about “War on Terror”. (Here is another good link). These votes were cast in the belief that Bush was a stronger man, and that this war on terror was something we have to worry about. That’s it. They sold us a better image of a man with conviction, which we need now that the terrorists might drop a bomb on us.

Most Americans have the intellectual curiosity of a stop sign. We (as a nation) like to have our news spoon fed to us in sound bites or by late night comedy shows. Some of us trust Rush Limbaugh and Fox News as being reliable news sources. This is compounded by the fact that our current administration lies, over and over that the war on Terror and the War in Iraq- have some kind of connection. Most Bush supporters believe there is a connection between 9-11 and Iraq.

Yes, we could blame the large Newspapers for not doing more investigative reporting. But please remember what happened when this person tried to investigate the truth of the administration. Reporters are scared of these guys- and they should be.

The Democratic party does not need an overhaul. It just needs to market it’s next candidate better. Average Joe American want’s a guy that he can relate to. Someone who does not talk too much about policy, but someone who seems to have conviction. Somone they can trust. Simply put, we need to dumb it down a little for the common man.

Don’t tell me this election was about morality. This election was about marketing. They had a guy that they sold like a beer commercial to Average Joe American. If anyone has earned credit during the campaign it was Karl Rove. As much as I hate him, I know we need him or someone like him on our team. If he can sell America that Bush has made our country more secure, he could sell trailers in Florida as being Hurricane Proof.

Two Salazars entered the picture when Ken Salazar took the U.S. Senate seat that fell to the GOP after Ben Nighthorse Campbell switched parties. John Salazar will succeed Rep. Scott McInnis in the 3rd Congressional District. The result shifts the state's party balance in Washington from 7-2 Republican to 5-4 Republican.

Republicans enjoy a large advantage among registered voters in Colorado, but the electorate was clearly sending the GOP a message. We are likely to see a gradual shift away from the conservative agenda focused on tax cuts and spending cuts to one that accommodates funding for education, health care and a clean environment.

Here is a letter to copy and past to any news source that is saying this election shows that we are becoming more Conservative as a nation:

Hi,
I was completely horrified to see the front-and-center story in Yesterday's (11.4.04) NY times proclaiming that the Bush victory clearly shows that this is a country of the "center right."

At least 48% of people voted against Bush, and yet the New York Times is essentially proclaiming that the vast majority of Americans are right-wingers. This is outrageous.

The article goes on to note that "fully" the voters cited values as most important to them this election year (and the vast majority of those people voted for bush). since when is 20% of people an amount that merits the term "fully"? Shouldn't the sentence be, "only" one-fifth? It's been only 2 days since the election and already the times is pandering to the President. I
think we need to hold the media accountable.

You need to dig a little deeper as to WHY people voted for Bush rather than Kerry. I believe it has more to do with the marketing of Bush rather than his agenda. Karl Rove did a great job marketing him with sound bites picked up on the TV news that people clung to.

He was sold as a simple man of strong character and conviction in a time of terrorism. Kerry was marketed as a complex man willing to do his homework and brave enough to serve in Vietnam. A slight majority of the populous relates to being simple and strong. It's that simple. We are not a nation turning to the "center right". Saying Bush won the election because of Guns, Gays and God is extremely simplified. It was his image, not his agenda that mattered.

It is a lot like SUV TV ads: People relate to living the active life being marketed to them- mountain biking, rafting, skiing, etc. They envision living the life of the people in the ad. This image is more important than reality: they are buying an expensive gas guzzler that they will spend years paying off and buying gas for.

Bush's image was more likeable (to a slight majority) than Kerry's. The people voting for him didn't care about his conservative agenda.

A federal judge issued an order early Monday barring political party challengers from polling places throughout Ohio during Tuesday's election.

U.S. District Judge Susan Dlott found that the application of Ohio's statute allowing challengers at polling places is unconstitutional.

She said the presence of challengers inexperienced in the electoral process questioning voters about their eligibility would impede voting.

Dlott ruled on a lawsuit by a black Cincinnati couple who said Republican plans to deploy challengers to largely black precincts in Hamilton County was meant to intimidate and block black voters.

I personally believe that the story about the missing explosives was orchestrated to be the "October Surprise" for the DEMOCRATIC PARTY. This story could have come out a week ago- a month ago- six months ago. But now it has come up and every day we are learning more and more about how Bush Screwed up the planning for the war. (No WMD's, not enought troops, no real planning) Now Bush is on the defense, and Karl cannot come up with anything for Bush to do but to try to discredit the information.

I love it.

Can anyone explain why this is not the TOP STORY OF THE NEWS? I think this is HUGE.

The Republican party has 3600 people ready to to challenge voters in Ohio on Nov 2nd. They will be challenging voter identities, addresses, how long they have lived in Ohio, and if their registration is correct.

This is clearly a scare tactic by the republicans to intimidate Democrats, and to slow the lines down to discourage voters.

I think Ohioians after voting should start intimidating these 3600 republicans. Ask them if they voted. Where is their ID? Where do they live? Who gives them the moral authority to throw a wrench into the political process?

Some people think that the Gallup Poll leans to the right. Maybe it does, maybe it doesn't. And maybe it doesn't

Even if it doesn't: DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT: More than 5% of the poplulation are not reachable to the pollsters because they do not have landlines. The younger demographic is more likely to only have a cell phone and they are leaning towards Kerry:

College students say they are much more interested in politics this year, more likely to identify with a party and more likely to vote, a new Harvard University study shows. And it appears a majority of those responding to the survey intend to vote for Sen. John Kerry. The Harvard University Institute of Politics surveyed students across the country in October.
The institute began tracking students' political leanings in 2000. Since then, there have been some remarkable changes.

But first, the findings:

The 10-point lead that Kerry held over President Bush in a March survey has grown to 13 percent.
While Bush's support among students has remained consistent, many undecided voters have moved into the Kerry camp.
In swing states, Kerry's lead is even higher, about 16 percent. Swing-state students also are saying they are more likely to vote than students in non-swing states.
Women are far more likely to support Kerry. The race is about even among males.
Students are divided in the way they rank the candidates' personal attributes. Bush, for example, scores higher on "takes a clear stand on issues." Kerry ranks higher on "understands the problems of people like you."
More students believe the country is headed in the wrong direction. And support for the war is slipping.

Yesterday Bush had to contend with this and this. He had to change his stump speech from Domestic issues to the war on Iraq.

Saying things like "Bush didn't expect any casualties in Iraq", and after the invasion Bush looked like "a contented Christian with four aces" might look bad for Bush. I'm guessing.

I'm sure that Bush's croonies will figure out a way to bash Pat Roberston as being 'confused'.. and still maintain the Christian Right. How could the good reverend misunderstand the will of God as he works through Bush? We will find out.

Regardless of how they spin it, it will make a great commercial for Kerry.

Now here is the question. How can we push more of these stories to be the Top News?

I couldn't make it through this op-ed article. It just made my stomach churn.

Abortion might be a crime in most states. Gay people could be thrown in prison for having sex in their homes. States might be free to become mini-theocracies, endorsing Christianity and using tax money to help spread the gospel. The Constitution might no longer protect inmates from being brutalized by prison guards. Family and medical leave and environmental protections could disappear.

It hardly sounds like a winning platform, and of course President Bush isn't openly espousing these positions. But he did say in his last campaign that his favorite Supreme Court justices were Antonin Scalia and Clarence Thomas, and the nominations he has made to the lower courts bear that out. Justices Scalia and Thomas are often called "conservative," but that does not begin to capture their philosophies. Both vehemently reject many of the core tenets of modern constitutional law.

For years, Justices Scalia and Thomas have been lobbing their judicial Molotov cocktails from the sidelines, while the court proceeded on its moderate-conservative path. But given the ages and inclinations of the current justices, it is quite possible that if Mr. Bush is re-elected, he will get three appointments, enough to forge a new majority that would turn the extreme Scalia-Thomas worldview into the law of the land.

Why would anyone believe that Karl Rove might be involved with the leak? He is so pure in thought and deed, he really must be innocent.

He jumped right on finding the leaker: Right after he took a vacation, then another, went bike riding, made up some lies, took another vacation, raped the environment, gave a tax break to the rich, took another vacation, worked really 'hard', took away some civil liberties, took another vacation....:

The 9-11 report couldn't find a connection- And even if they did:

THINGS ARE GETTING WORST IN IRAQ. So we would still be losing ground on the war on 'terror', if we were measuring success by this war.

I have to repeat this line: "This administration is living in a fantasy world if they believe things are going well in Iraq"

There is no connection, and invading Iraq was an extremely bad idea.

I just finished the book Against All Enemies, by Richard Clarke. BUY IT & READ IT. It is a great book. Richard Clarke worked under three presidents, and for the most part is none partisan. He just has a thing for keeping American safe. So he is anti Bush Jr.

In a nutshell, he argues that Bush Senior was a pretty good president, Clinton took the threat of terrorism seriously and Bush Junior has dropped the ball so many times and so often he has made our Country LESS SECURE than it was before September 11th.

Here is a passage:

"Nothing America could have done would have provided al Qaeda and its new generation of cloned groups a better recruitment device than our unprovoked invasion of an oil rich Arab country. Kerry outperformed Bush in the last debate. Here are my highlights:

Kerry saying, "Bush talking about fiscal responsiblity is like Tony Soprano talking to a police officer about law inforcement". (Some people didn't like it- but I did).

Kerry talking about his mother, he looked into the camera and said, "When I told my mother I was thinking about running for President, she told me: Integrity, Integrity, Integrity" (Having lost a parent, this comment struck a chord with me)

Several times Kerry said, "Now what the President just said is inaccurate", or "What the President just said is simply not true" or "What he just said is simply wrong". (I believe it was this last one that Bush wanted to rebuttal but was snubbed by Bob).

Another great one was when Kerry was talking about how much he respected George Bush for his work after 9-11..It was like he was about to hug Bush. Then Kerry switched tone and HAMMERED Bush for taking a UNITED country and turning it into a polarized, DIVIDED country. AWESOME.

Reading John Moltz blog today he makes the connection that in the debates Bush acted like he was being asked to keep his job (Like a scene in Office Space), "What exactly would you say... you DO HERE?"

Which is very much like the town hall question, "What are three mistakes you have made?

“In this case, when you brag on Iraqi radio and television that you have allocated $400 million for schools and then you look at the schools and see broken windows and badly needed paint jobs, you lose credibility,” he said. The State Department released the Emergency Appropriations Act for the Reconstruction of Iraq and Afghanistan 2004 quarterly report last week. It confirmed that only $1.2 billion of the $18.4 billion signed into law in November 2003 for Iraqi relief and reconstruction has been spent.

MORE PRISONER ABUSE?

I'm sure these prisoners just went for a walk when no one was looking. Think of all the people that got in trouble after the Abu Griabe reports...Oh that's right, no one lost their jobs. But still Bush looked sincere when he said he would get to the bottom of the abuse.

At least 11 al-Qaida suspects have “disappeared” in U.S. custody, and some may have been tortured, Human Rights Watch said in a report issued Monday. The prisoners are probably being held outside the United States without access to the Red Cross or any oversight of their treatment, the human rights group said. In some cases, the United States will not even acknowledge the prisoners are in custody.

The fact that Iraq was not a threat to the US might be a reason why we SHOULD NOT HAVE LAUNCHED A WAR on them. Just an opinion..

It looks even worst for the Bush team since Edwards in his debate kept on saying "There is no connection between 9-11 and Iraq".

Amir Yoran has resigned. He is the guy in charge of Cyber Security, the job used to be called "Terrorist Czar" when Richard Clarke was in office. I think the title changed when someone complained that the current administration doesn't allow them to actually do anything.

Did you know he was the third one to hold this job under George Bush. The last guy, Beers, quit because: "It's a very closed, small, controlled group. This is an administration that determines what it thinks and then sets about to prove it. There's almost a religious kind of certainty. There's no curiosity about opposing points of view. It's very scary. There's kind of a ghost agenda."

Interesting. I would have thought that winning the war on terror would mean creating a culture in the White House where people are free to ask the hard questions; like: Why are we in Iraq? We will be creating more extremist views of America by occupying an Arab country.

In Colorado, Donetta Davidson has ordered that on a provisional ballot, the only vote counted will be the vote for president. Votes for Senate and Congress will not be counted. Given the competitive Senate race and a number of competitive House races, this could destroy the Democrats chances of winning control of the Senate and the House: If this rule had been in effect in 2002, no provisional ballots would have been counted, and Beauprez' narrow win over Mike Feeley in CO-7 would have been more comfortable -- provisional ballots, usually cast by people who moved shortly before the election (or who forgot to bring photo ID), heavily favored the Democrat in that race. This could hobble Democratic efforts to win a majority in Congress. Colorado Common Cause is suing to stop Davidson's order. You can act as well:

It has been way too quiet the last couple of days with Kerry leading in the polls. I think we are due for an Orange alert or a new Swift boat ad.

Perhaps even the October surprise?

My guess is that Kerry has a vietnamese child we don't know about.. but thanks to Karl Rove it will come out in the next few days.

One of my continued rants is that we are losing the war on terror because we (no thanks to our preznit) do not understand our enemy:
